What do we want Wilton to be?
The Wilton Planning and Zoning Commission, together with a Joint Working Group of town board representatives and experts from Milone and MacBroom, Inc., will be looking to the community to help answer that question as we embark on updating Wilton’s Plan of Conservation and Development. This comprehensive plan defines the community’s long-term vision and offers goals and objectives on land use, growth, conservation and community investments to guide local decision making and policy over the next decade. The Commission wants to hear from the community throughout this critical planning process, which begins now and is expected to conclude in spring 2019.
Please join us at 7:00 p.m. on February 8, 2018, at the High School Cafeteria for a Kick-Off and Public Workshop that will outline the planning and public engagement process and provide an opportunity for participants to begin sharing their vision for the future of Wilton.
Following the Kick-Off meeting, the Commission will hold several monthly Public Workshops and online survey exercises to evaluate community and strategic planning issues, such as housing, Route 7 and transportation, community facilities and infrastructure and sustainability, among others. The workshop schedule and format will be discussed at the Kick-Off meeting and will be posted on the Plan of Conservation and Development website at www.wilton2029.com.
To learn more, get the latest updates, provide feedback and get involved, please visit the Wilton Plan of Conservation and Development website at www.wilton2029.com. Please also like and share the Wilton 2029 Plan Facebook page via the website.
The Town of Wilton Planning and Zoning Commission is preparing an update to the Plan of Conservation and Development, or POCD. The POCD is a guidance document that will provide a long term vision for the Town of Wilton and guide decision making relating to growth, development, conservation, and capital improvements over the next decade. The State of Connecticut requires municipalities to update their POCD every ten years.
As a comprehensive plan, the POCD will look at a range of topics that will influence the Town over the coming decade, including demographics, housing, land use, community facilities, economic development, open space, recreation, transportation, and sustainability. While it is important to understand data and trends, it is equally important to understand the priorities of the community. The Planning and Zoning Commission will have sever, including surveys, focus groups, and workshops. Dates for these events will be posted in the upcoming months. We hope to hear from you!
